One of the most informative commentators is Steven Soderbergh, whose quote I have up on the right hand side of the main page about what he thinks about commentaries as a resource for any wannabe filmmakers. No stranger to bringing on guests to sit in with him as he discusses the films at hand, he is joined by another filmmaker – Neil LaBute – who acts as a sort of moderator as he asks Soderbergh various questions about the filmmaking process. The range of discussion goes anywhere from rehearsals to using sound. Listen to it all below.

An excellent commentary is Soderbergh and James Gray for Gray’s THE YARDS.
Hey —
How do you do the screen captures? Are you just painstakingly stringing them together, screenshot by screenshot, or are you using a specific program?
Thanks,

What are you referring to specifically?
The Shot Breakdown’s, specifically.
I capture them by hand using VLC player (pressing Ctrl+S). It’s a bit over the top how I do it as opposed to using a software to capture something – but by hand I’m more precise, I use own judgment, and as an exercise it teaches you to “see” a film because you’re focused every moment for 2 hours.
